LEadership Team

Be at least 21 years of age and register as an adult leader of Scouting America. Need NOT be an expert in all Cub Scout activities but should be a leader who is able to deal with adults as well as youth. Should be able to delegate responsibilities; set a good example by behavior, attitude, and uniform, and believe in the values and principles of Cub Scouting. 

Meetings – Participate in monthly Pack parent planning meetings and yearly Pack planning meetings. Attend Pack meetings, fundraisers, and Pack outings. 

Training required – S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth, Cub Scout Position Specific Training, Hazardous Weather Training.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and run monthly pack meetings that celebrate advancement and keep families engaged. 

• Guide and support Den Leaders in executing the Cub Scout program. 

• Work closely with the Pack Committee to organize the annual pack plan, recruit new families, and maintain a positive, safe environment.

• Work with the Pack Committee on program ideas, selecting and recruiting adult leaders, and establishing a budget plan.

Characteristics – Able to recruit and communicate with other adults. Able to keep the Pack projects on track by motivating other volunteers.

Training required – S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth, Cub Scout Position Specific Training, Hazardous Weather Training.

Responsibilities:

• • Presides over the monthly pack leaders' and committee meetings. Assigns duties to committee members and ensures everyone completes their administrative and support tasks. 

  • Identifies and recruits (with approval from the chartered organization) adult volunteers to fill necessary positions, including the Cubmaster, assistant Cubmasters, and den leaders. 

  • Maintains a close relationship with the Chartered Organization Representative (COR) and ensures harmonious communications. 

  • Directs the annual pack program planning conference and ensures charter review, roundup, and reregistration take place smoothly. 

  • Reviews and approves pack bills before the treasurer issues payments.

  • Working through the Advancement Chair, maintain adequate Pack advancement records. 

  • Working through the Pack Webmaster, maintaining active social media channels. 

  • Working through the Pack New Member Coordinator, ensure Pack joining nights are well planned and welcoming and that all new families are engaged with the Pack. 

  • Working through the Pack Trainer, develop a Pack leader training program.

Characteristics – Willing to work with six to ten scouts, coordinate a weekly hour-long program, and engage Scout parents. 

Meetings – Run weekly den meetings. Participate in monthly Pack parent planning meetings and yearly Pack planning meetings. Attend Pack meetings, fundraisers, and Pack outings. 

Training required – S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth, Cub Scout Position Specific Training, Hazardous Weather Training.

Responsibilities:

• Organize and lead den meetings twice a month. 

• Work in harmony with other leaders. 

• Teach Cub Scouts by example and help them live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law. 

• Use the resources of Scouting to plan a fun and engaging program. 

• Guide Scouts through adventure requirements and recognize their achievements.

• Ensure all activities meet Scouting America's Youth Protection and Barriers to Abuse policies.

Responsibilities:

• Co-host weekly den meetings and assist with coordinating activities for six to ten Cub Scouts. 

• Help the Den Leader prepare den meeting plans, gather supplies, and review how meetings went to make improvements.  

• Participate in monthly pack leader meetings, pack meetings, fundraisers, and outdoor activities/camping trips

Responsibilities:

• Attend the annual Council Popcorn Kickoff to receive materials and updates. Establish a comprehensive sales plan (door-to-door, online, and Show & Sell) and help set sales goals per Scout. 

• Organize a fun Unit Popcorn Kickoff to motivate Scouts, distribute marketing materials, and review sales techniques and safety guidelines. 

• Coordinate bulk orders, manage product distribution to Scouts, and handle any exchanges or returns with the local council. 

• Track the money collected by Scouts, ensure on-time payments to the council, and manage the unit’s commission funds. 

• Maintain accurate records of individual Scout sales, order prizes from the council's incentive catalogs, and distribute them to the youth. 

• Manage leftover inventory and handle excess returns according to council policies. 

• Kernels are required to use council-approved software (such as Trail's End) to process online orders, enter inventory, and manage unit accounts.

Characteristics – Basic bookkeeping and mathematical skills.

Responsibilities: 

• Lead the creation and management of the unit's annual operating budget. 

• Maintain checking/savings accounts and keep accurate, up-to-date ledgers of all income and expenses. 

• Collect regular dues, maintain transparent records, and track youth accounts for events like campouts. 

• Pay bills authorized by the committee and Cub Master, ensuring disbursements align with budget allowances. 

• Guide the unit in conducting council-approved money-earning projects and ensure proper authorizations are filed.

Responsibilities: 

• Keep minutes of committee meetings, handle correspondence, manage unit rosters, and maintain advancement and attendance records.

• Keep notes on Pack parent planning meetings. Record key items such as things needing follow-up or items for the Pack’s history.

Characteristics – Good public speaking and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities: 

• Act as a "Welcome Ambassador" by greeting visitors, answering questions, and providing new member info. 

• Help to coordinate Scout recruitment efforts; be prepared for informational nights.

Characteristics – Able to research and connect Pack to new program opportunities, project management skills.

Training required – S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth, Cub Scout Position Specific Training, Hazardous Weather Training.

Responsibilities: 

• Develop and implement events (e.g., camps, summertime programs, Webelos/AoL activities) 

• Promote the concept of community service, encouraging unit to complete multiple "Good Turn" projects while wearing their Scout uniforms.

• Arrange for agreements to be signed for field trips and outings. 

• Locate new opportunities for Scouts to visit. 

• Arrange for safe transportation when needed. 

• Plan first aid for emergencies. 

• Make sure all outings follow the rules in the Guide to Safe Scouting. 

• Be aware of Scouting America health and safety requirements and ensure they are carried out

Responsibilities: 

• Help the Cubmaster and Pack Committee plan and arrange for Pack activities. 

• Recruit parents to coordinate Pack activities. 

• Arrange for agreements to be signed for field trips and outings. 

• Locate new opportunities for Scouts to visit. 

• Arrange for safe transportation when needed. 

• Plan first aid for emergencies. 

• Help leaders plan Pack campouts and make sure a BALOO-trained leader (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) is in attendance. Help arrange for equipment, as needed. 

• Make sure all outings follow the rules in the Guide to Safe Scouting. 

• Help inform parents about opportunities for family camping. 

• Assist in the promotion of day camp and resident camp opportunities. 

• Be aware of Scouting America health and safety requirements and ensure they are carried out

Characteristics – social media knowledge and general marketing skills. Connections to local schools and community groups. 

Meetings – Participate in monthly Pack parent planning meetings and yearly Pack planning meetings.

Responsibilities: 

• Establish and maintain public-facing social media channels. 

• Ensure all digital platforms follow Scouting America Cyber-Safety and Social Media Guidelines (e.g., never using a scout's last name).

• Update Pack’s BeAScout Pin on www.beascout.org. 

• Participate in community events to promote Scouting. 

• Make sure ongoing follow up occurs to families interested in joining Scouting. 

• Publicize and promote Pack participation in local service projects with the Chartered Organization, schools, and community.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting orientation for new leaders and adult family members within one week of joining. 

• Ensuring leaders are taking their position-specific training as soon as it becomes available. 

• Maintaining training records for the pack and encouraging leaders to attend district or council roundtables 

Every parent/guardian is invited to be part of Pack 215's committee.

During the school year, Pack 215 tries to have at least ONE committee meeting every other month. Upcoming events and plans are made during the committee meeting.

There are no formal requirements to be a part of the general committee. We value parent's feedback and input on events.
