Welcome and Setup

Thank you for registering for the upcoming Show and Sale event. The Popcorn Kernel will bring popcorn and supplies to the storefront and will be present to help set up and answer any questions as you arrive.

Cash Management

An adult should oversee the cash provided in the "change" bag. Each shift has a designated envelope and an inventory count. Please ensure that the start-up change stays in the bag at the end of your shift and is not included in donation totals.

DONATIONS: Do NOT enter them into the system UNLESS a customer wants to make a donation via credit card. If a customer hands you cash and say's it's a "donation", put it in your envelope. We will count these up at the end of your shift and enter them in as one bulk amount. Entering them in as a bulk amount gives us the opportunity to fix any errors that might have happened during the shift, (it happens even to the best of us), that we are not made aware of until we try to close out the sale at the end of they day.

Uniforms and Attire

Scouts should wear their uniforms. Parents may wear their Pack 215 shirts if they have one. If you don’t have a Pack shirt, that is ok. Don’t stress over it. A parent/guardian must stay with their Scout during the whole shift.

Store Property

Please respect the storefront by keeping Scouts away from machinery, mowers, grills, or other equipment. If the store manager complains to the leadership due to a Scout being disrespectful of property, that Scout will not be permitted to sign up for future Show and Sales.

Required Materials

Bring your BINGO card! A poster will be available for a Scout to hold or place at the table. We do NOT want to have the price list visible. It should be a talking point with the Scouts. Keep it hidden behind the popcorn. Parents are welcome to bring a chair to sit in. Scouts should not be sitting in a chair; they should be up and moving and talking to potential customers.

 
REMEMBER: You should get more No's than Yes's. We expect that. This is great practice for Scouts! And mark those No's to see who can get the most!

Sales and Recording Procedures

All sales are recorded in the Trail's End app by adults. Sales are divided among Scouts participating during that shift. Any adult present may record sales in the app.

When you arrive, open the Trail's End app and we will make sure that the Credit Card option is functioning properly.

You will receive donations, we always do. When a donation is received, you don’t have to do anything with it, simply put it in the change envelope. At the shift change, we will go over the options with donations. See Cash Management above for more info.

When the selling shift is over, Trails End will probably prompt you to change the cash to credit. You do not do this. The Popcorn Kernel will take care of this at the end of the day once inventory counts are complete. 

Sales Approach

Feel free to personalize the suggested Trail’s End greeting:

"Hello, my name is (first name), and I am earning my way to camp. Can I count on your support? We accept cash and credit cards. My favorite flavor is (flavor)."

Scout Experience

It is normal for Scouts to start out shy and want to hide behind the table.

As the Scouts begin speaking about the fundraiser, they will grow more comfortable and confident. 

Let your Scout's speak. Don't do all the selling for them.
